Leyland develops new CNG bus engine

Ashok Leyland today said it has developed a compressed natural gas bus engine with multi-point fuel injection technology.
 
The 5.7 litre turbocharged engine meets Euro IV emission standards, as mandated by the government.
 
"With this engine, we step into the more challenging phase of transient cycles as mandated in the Euro IV norms of the future," Managing Director R Seshasayee said in a statement.
 
Government has mandated introduction of Euro-IV vehicular emission norms in the country by 2010.
 
The second-largest commercial vehicle maker in the country recently commissioned a new production line at its
 
Ennore facility for manufacturing engines conforming to Euro III and Euro IV norms.
 
Shares of Ashok Leyland closed at Rs 51.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, down 0.58 per cent.
