South Korean electronics major LG on Wednesday unveiled 4G-enabled android smartphone G2 LTE,in collaboration with telecom service provider Airtel and Qualcomm, a provider of next-generation mobile technologies. Bangalore thus became the first city in the country to get the 4G services on phone.
The 4G version of G2 is priced at RS 49,000 for the 32-GB model and shall be available in three colour variants white, black and gold, the company officials said.
"4G is a much-awaited and relatively new mobile telephony in India, which will become mainstream in the country by the end of 2015. LG G2 is a first step to realise the new mobility service for the Indian consumers," said Amit Gujral, Product and Marketing head, LG Mobile Communications, LG Electronics, India.
Airtel will ensure a seamless transition to 4G services for its 3G users. The 4G tariff plan is exactly the same as 3G and customers just need to upgrade to a 4G SIM that is available at all Airtel stores in Bangalore, said Rohit Malhotra, CEO-Karnataka, Bharti Airtel.
LG G2 comes with 2.26 GHz Quard-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB memory, camera with 13.0MP with OIS in the rear and 2.1MP at the front.
"The Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with integrated LTE is designed to deliver high speed and low latency connectivity with maximum performance," said Sandeep Sibal, country manager and VP of business development, Qualcomm India and South Asia.
