LG plans Rs 1,000cr marketing push in 2 years

Consumer electronics and home appliances major LG Electronics India (LGEIL) has embarked upon a plan to create for itself an image of a mid-range to high-end brand focused on consumer benefits.

The Indian subsidiary of Korean conglomerate LG will bank upon GSM mobile handsets, flat panelled displays and optical digital devices as the principal drivers of the process that aims at establishing the company as a provider of technologically superior products that offer value for money.

Amit Gupta, head of sales and marketing for LGEIL told a team of mediapersons visiting the company's manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon, near Pune, that the company will step up its investments on marketing from the current level of around Rs 320 crore to Rs 1,000 crore in a period of two years. The activities will include direct advertising as well as below the line initiatives, he added.
