South Korean consumer durables major LG Electronics will introduce eco-friendly products in India early next year, as it looks to strengthen hold in the country's white goods market.

The company, which launched a range of eco-friendly products 'Eco-Chic' such as the platinum coated two-door refrigerator and washing machine with steam technology here, will be introducing them in India.

"Some of our new premium products, which we have unveiled here will also be launched in India and other Asian markets. The first one would be the platinum door refrigerators which will be introduced in India early next year," LG Electronics Vice President DA Marketing Strategy team Caroline Kim told PTI on the sidelines of the exhibition 'Maison et Objet'.

The others products launched by LG include electronic home systems and a new range of LCD TV sets under the 'Scarlet' brand.

The firm also claims that its products are very energy efficient and some of them save energy up to 70 per cent as compared to similar products available in the market.

She, however, said the company would make changes in the products to meet local requirements, specially before introducing them in Asian and other markets.

"We conduct thorough research to find out the needs of the consumers in a particular geography and then the products are customised according to the local requirements," she said.

LG electronics is targeting a sale of 49.5 billion dollars globally in the current year and the contribution from its operations in India stood at less than $3 billion, she said.
