Liberty Shoes Ltd is all set to open 100 new retail outlets in the country this year. The outlets will be opened in synergy with channel partners.

The company plans to consolidate its position in the domestic market, in the wake of slack demand in the export market. Talking to Business Standard, Shammi Bansal, managing director of the company, said that the global financial scenario has certainly hit their bottom line and the export business of the company took a 20 per cent hit. India’s leading footwear manufacturer, Liberty Shoes, which supplies to retail chains like Wal-mart, plans to increase its footprint in the domestic market to offset the loss of exports.

The company has also put on hold its proposed manufacturing unit in Bangalore, in the wake of the current market uncertainty.
