Lodhika Industrial Association, a Saurashtra-based industrial body, is setting up a skill upgradation center at the industrial estate under the state government’s Critical Infrastructure Projects (CIP) with an investment of Rs 10 crore.

The association is also creating a products display center in Lodhika GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) estate, which will be the country’s first display center in any industrial area.

Moreover, the association has executed projects worth Rs 110 crores under CIP and additional projects worth Rs 70 crore have been taken up for development. The all projects will be completed over the period of two years.

“We have decided to build a skill upgradation center to reduce the skilled manpower crunch in Rajkot industries. The industry is facing severe shortage of skilled labor at present. The centre would also provide advanced training to workers for skill upgradation”, said Kishorbhai Kadavani, chairman of Lodhika GIDC Industrial Association.

Kadvani said, “We aim to make Lodhika GIDC like Singapore and Hong Kong, which is why we are working on beautification of the industrial area. It will become a picnic spot for people in Rajkot.”

“In Lodhika GIDC, there will be a hotel, restaurant and a refreshment centre also. Moreover, in order to promote our products, we have a plan to create products display centre too. Business representative of delegations will go there and can see the products and approach the manufacturers directly. It’s a first-of-its kind display centre in India”, said Jamanbhai Bhalani, president of Rajkot Lodhika GIDC Association.

So far, the association has built up a community hall, water supply systems and developed roads inside the GIDC.

The work for centre of excellence, skill upgradation centre and underground power supply system besides other infrastructure projects will be taken up soon.

Rajkot Lodhika GIDC has about 1000 industries associated with it, giving employment to 20,000 people. Annual turnover of the industrial area is about Rs 4500 crore.

Most of the units are medium scale units in it. The estate has leaders like EPP composites and Jyoti CNC based here.
