Logitech Electronics India, a subsidiary of the $2.2 billion Swiss-based Logitech, is looking at the home entertainment space for growth this year. |
It would roll out three new products - wireless DJ, a streaming music solution that can stream music from a PC to a music system (Squeexbox music system) and a universal remote - across 100 stores in 10 cities on November 1. |
Said Moninder Jain, director - South-East Asia and India of Logitech Electronics, "We test launched it in Mumbai for a month now. We have registered sale of 3-4 units per store per week for our universal remotes alone." |
Universal remotes are compatible with 2,00,000 electronic devices, which means that consumers get to use one remote for switching on all home entertainment electronics devices, from the DVD player to the television to the direct-to-home operator, etc. |
The universal remote has been made with consultation with over a 1000 manufacturers so that this one device could be used across all electronics home entertainment products. The database of the remote is also constantly updated. |
So far, Logitech has launched three models of the universal remotes, that range between Rs 5,995 and Rs 27,995. It plans to launch more such remotes in future. |
Logitech also launched its first 300 sq ft 'concept store' in Kolkata today. Depending on its success, such stores would be replicated all over the country. |
"We would not sell any Logitech product from this shop. This would be our exclusive store where we would showcase all our products, entry-level as well as high-end," said Jain. |
Consumers can look around the products at the store, try and test them. Once the consumers zero in on the products they would want to buy, the brand store would put them to Bardroy Infotech, one of Logitech's channel partners for purchases at this store, who would take the consumers through the purchase. |
