Lulu group setting up Rs 1200cr mall in Kochi

The construction work has been awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji.

The Dubai-based Lulu International Shopping Mall group is setting a mall in India at Kochi. Yusuffali MA, managing director of the group, said the proposed mall to come up at an investment of Rs 1,200 crore, will be spread over 17 acres with a built-up area of 2 million sft. The project will be located at Edappally.

The company has roped in WS Atkins of United Kingdom as consultant while the construction work has been awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji.

The mall will have 7 multiplexes, family amusement centre, six restaurants, a 50,000 sft food court apart from a parking area for 3,000 vehicles.

 

The project will also consists of a 300-room five-star hotel and a commercial tower exclusively for the aviation sector. The company has signed an agreement with Marriott Hotels for the management of the hotel, he said.

The Lulu group has over 70 shopping centres and malls in the Gulf region. The project is expected to provide direct employment to 6,000-plus people and indirect jobs to 20,000. The mall will become operational by 2010, he said.
