Lyra Polymers' MP unit starts production

Lyra Polymers, a Nagpur-based firm, has started production of plastic-moulded containers at its new unit at the Boregaon Food Park in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district. The firm has made an investment of Rs 57.62 lakh in the unit.

Two other Nagpur-based firms, Manvi Transformers and Universal Engineering Corporation, have also started commercial production in the park with investments of Rs 14.40 lakh and Rs 22 lakh, respectively.

Manvi will manufacture electric transformer control panels and will undertake 100 units of transformer repair per year, while Universal will manufacture mild steel (MS) pipes, bridge gates etc.

"Lyra will make 96 metric tonnes of plastic-moulded water containers annually," a government official informed Business Standard.

Universal Engineering Company plans to manufacture 1,700 tonnes of MS pipes, aqua ducts, sluice gates and radial gates for small dams, and foot bridges. With this combined investment of approximately Rs 1 crore, the Boregaon Food Park has come to life.

"A few more Maharashtra companies have evinced interest in the food park," said the official.

Northern India's leading biscuit maker Surya Food & Agro Ltd, which sells biscuits under the "Priya Gold" brand name, has also decided to invest Rs 10 crore in the Boregaon Food Park.

Similarly, another New Delhi-based company, PBG International, will also set up its unit with an investment of Rs 2 crore in the park.

"Surya will set up a biscuit unit and a food processing unit with capacities of 30 metric tonnes and 35 metric tonnes respectively," the official said.

The company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the MP Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (MPAKVN). PBG International Pvt Ltd will also set up a rice processing unit, a wheat flourmill and later a frozen peas processing unit. Both the units are likely to generate 200 jobs in the park.

A few more companies from Orissa and Andhra Pradesh had evinced interest in the park but pulled out later.

Earlier, a Nagpur-based firm Candico had also evinced interest in shifting its base from Nagpur to Boregaon Park but its plan did not materialise.
