M&M auto sales up 24% in July

Auto-maker Mahindra & Mahindra today reported an increase of 24.31 per cent in total sales at 28,049 units for July this year.

The company had sold 22,563 units in the same month of 2009, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.

In the domestic market, sales of the company jumped by 19.79 per cent to 26,303 units in July as against 21,957 units in the same month last year, it added.

Total sales of M&M utility vehicles, including Scorpio, Xylo, Bolero and Pick-Ups, marginally increased at 16,720 units
against sales of 16,688 units in July, 2009.

Sales of the Logan sedan from Mahindra Renault Pvt Ltd went up by 69.37 per cent to 752 units during the month, compared to 444 units in the same month a year ago.

The company said sales of three-wheelers and Gio and Maxximo mini-trucks during July jumped over two-fold to 7,824 units against 3,806 units during the same month last year.

Light commercial vehicle sales from Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd during the month stood at 1,007 units against 1,019 units in the same month a year ago, a fall of 1.18 per cent.

M&M's exports during the month jumped over two-fold to 1,296 units against 506 units during July, 2009.
