Auto-maker Mahindra & Mahindra today reported its highest ever monthly sales of 44,717 units in Januray, registering a rise of 21.78% over the year-ago period.
The company had sold 36,718 units in the corresponding month in 2011, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.
"We are happy to achieve an all time high sales...Thanks to the good performance of all our brands. The XUV500 continues to create excitement in the market and the second round of bookings has evoked an overwhelming response," M&M Senior Vice President (Sales and Customer Care, Automotive Division) Arun Malhotra said.
In the domestic market, the company registered a 19.56% rise in sales to 41,369 units during the month compared to 34,601 units in the year-ago period, M&M said.
Total sales of passenger vehicles, including Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 19,975 units during the month under review as against 17,208 units in January 2011, translating into a 16.08% increase.
However, the company said sales of its three-wheelers went down marginally to 6,126 units during January 2011 from 6,177 units during the same month last year.
Sales of the company's Gio and Maxximo mini-trucks and other four-wheeler commercial vehicles increased by 34.65% last month to 13,725 units from 10,193 units in the year-ago period, the statement said.
Commercial vehicle sales from Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd stood at 1,543 units during the month as against 1,023 units in the same month a year ago, a rise of 50.83%.
M&M's exports jumped by 95.45% to 3,348 units during the month from 1,713 units during January 2011.
