India's top Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) maker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has clocked 25 percent growth in Uttar Pradesh market in March 2014.
The growth comes on the back of sustained demand for its SUVs and pickups viz. Bolero, Scorpio and Maxi Truck Plus in the state, Arun Malhotra, Chief Sales & Customer Care Officer Automotive Division, M&M said here.
The passenger and commercial segments grew by 18 percent and 38 percent respectively, he informed.
M&M registered 2 percent growth in UP market in 2013-14. The growth comes despite overall downturn witnessed by the automotive industry during the period.
UP is an important market for Mahindra with a contribution of 35 percent to the overall volumes in the North.
The passenger vehicles registered growth of one percent with over 33,000 units being sold, whereas the pickup category grew by 49 percent.

He underlined the goodwill enjoyed by Bolero with a dominant 93 percent market share in the segment and a substantial contribution of 34 percent to overall sales.
"We are committed to offering value to customers through our portfolio of products and extensive service network across UP," Malhotra added.
Meanwhile, the company has extended its reach in rural hinterland with 199 customer touch points in UP, including dealerships, dealer branches, service centres etc for providing sales and service support to customers.
