Utility and tractor vehicle maker Mahindra and Mahindra's (M&M) total sales for January (including exports) grew by 25.6% at 19,875 units as compared to 15,823 units for the same month last year. In the utility vehicle segment, the Scorpio was the top gainer growing 34% with 4,528 units as against 3,370 units during January 2006. Total sales in the utility segment stood at 15,183 units, up 23.36% as compared to 12,307 units in January 2006. Total exports for the company, during the month, stood at 743 units, posting a growth of 211% as against 351 units in January last year. The company's light commercial vehicle (LCV) and the three-wheeler segments together grew by 24.77% at 3,949 units for January 2007 as compared to 3,165 units for the same month last year. The company's farm equipment segment that sells tractors, grew by 13% in January 2007 with 8,668 units as against 7,658 units sold over the same period last year. Exports of the tractors grew by 3% at 654 units. |
