M&M January vehicle sales up 22% YoY

Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) today reported its highest-ever sales in a month at 36,718 units in January this year, an increase of 22 per cent over the same period last year.

The company had sold 30,149 units in the corresponding month of 2010, M&M said in a statement.

The firm's all-time high domestic sales stood at 34,601 units during January 2011, as against 28,988 units during January 2010, an increase of 19 per cent.

"All our brands have done exceptionally well with the Logan having clocked a sale of 1,120 units, which is the highest during the last 28 months. With the launch of the Genio, we hope to further consolidate our position in the pick-up segment," Mahindra & Mahindra (Automotive Division) Chief Executive Rajesh Jejurikar said.

 

The passenger vehicles segment (which includes the utility vehicles and Logan) registered a growth of 15 per cent at 17,208 units in January 2011, as against 14,998 units during January 2010.

The 4-wheel pick-up segment, which includes the Maxximo, Gio and Genio registered a growth of 18 per cent at 10,193 units, while the 3-wheelers segment grew by 37 per cent at 6,177 units during the month.

M&M's exports during the month jumped 82 per cent to 1,713 units as against 1,161 units during January 2010.
