Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (MML), part of the Mumbai-based Mahindra Group, is working towards setting up an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) along with the Andhra Pradesh government at Zaheerabad, about 100 km from here.

According to the company, the ITI would be a model institute in the region and will be aimed at providing a high-level of technical education to students and support to industry alike.

“The initiative of supporting an ITI in Zaheerabad is part of Mahindra’s philosophy of Rise and would go a long way in enabling the development of the region. The ITI will complement the auto plant as well as the fully functional tractor plant of Mahindra, which has already ushered in positive change. It is our vision to put Zaheerabad high on the automotive map of India,” MML executive director, Pawan Goenka, said.

Mahindra, on its part, has committed a financial support to the extent of  Rs 1 crore for the ITI. In addition, the team at Zaheerabad would be investing time in evolving the curriculum along with the institute management and also assist them by identifying the best available faculty. Mahindra officials would also visit the ITI on a regular basis as faculty for conducting sessions on technical and behavioural training.

Mahindra will also look at providing job opportunities to meritorious students. In addition, the plants will involve them in carrying  out various projects, which would improve their learning capabilities, the company stated in a press release.
