Utility vehicles market leader Mahindra & Mahindra has said that as part of the process of aligning production with demand, it will shut its plants for up to three days for the remaining days of this month.

The Mumbai-based company would be observing No Production Days at all its automotive plants for one to three days during the remaining period of January, 2014.

Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers, a wholly owned subsidiary would also be observing No Production Days at Chakan for up to the same number of days.

"The management does not envisage any adverse impact on availability of vehicles in the market due to adequacy of vehicle stocks to serve the market requirements", the company said in a statement sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Sluggish demand led by constant increase in diesel prices and increase of centre and state levied duties on utility vehicles has impacted the segment in which M&M operates.
