Maadurga Thermal Power Company Ltd (MTPCL), part of the state-based Maadurga Group of Companies, has sought coal linkage to feed its 60 MW coal-fired power station taken up at Tangi near Cuttack.
The company has urged the Odisha government to recommend its case for to the Union ministries of power and coal for allocation of coal linkage.
"Despite the priority given to our project, the process of allocation of coal linkage has not been finalized as yet whereas the plant would need coal before June 2012. We request you to recommend our case to the Ministry of Power and Ministry of Coal so that the investment of Rs 350 crore does not remain idle for want of fuel”, Prasant Chandra Rath, managing director, MTPCL said in a letter to state Chief Secretary B K Patnaik.
The company said it has all statutory approvals in place for the power project including environment clearance. The power station is in advanced stage of commissioning with generation expected to begin by June this year.
