Macmillan India acquires Charon Tech

Macmillan India has announced that it has acquired Chennai-based Charon Tech, which provides typesetting services to book publishers in Europe and US, in an all-cash deal. Macmillan declined to disclose the size of the deal.
 
Macmillan supplies typesetting and pre-press services to journals' publishers. A Macmillan statement said that the aim of the acquisition was to help it become a significant player in services to book publishers.
 
The statement added that the Charon acquisition is expected to significantly impact its revenue from 2006 onwards. The acquisition is expected to contribute $ 3 million (about Rs 13 crore) in sales next year.
 
Typesetting is the technology that is used to decide which parts of the paper should be marked. That is followed by printing, the technology of making the marks.
