Macmillan India has announced that it has acquired Chennai-based Charon Tech, which provides typesetting services to book publishers in Europe and US, in an all-cash deal. Macmillan declined to disclose the size of the deal. |
Macmillan supplies typesetting and pre-press services to journals' publishers. A Macmillan statement said that the aim of the acquisition was to help it become a significant player in services to book publishers. |
The statement added that the Charon acquisition is expected to significantly impact its revenue from 2006 onwards. The acquisition is expected to contribute $ 3 million (about Rs 13 crore) in sales next year. |
Typesetting is the technology that is used to decide which parts of the paper should be marked. That is followed by printing, the technology of making the marks. |
