Maersk adds Pipavav call to cater to north Indian exporters

With a view to further facilitate trade from North & North West India to the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Europe; Maersk Line will shortly add a Pipavav call on its ME3 service.

The enhancement will provide exporters and shippers from North and North West India a direct service from/to the Middle East, Mediterranean and European markets, Maersk said in a press release. The new service is aimed to expand Maersk Line’s coverage from/to North and North West India and further strengthen its presence in these developing markets.
 
The Pipavav call follows the recent addition of the Jebel Ali call on the ME3 service which has made it a fast, direct and fixed day mother vessel service to the Middle East for North & North West India shippers. The first call of the further enhanced ME3 service at Pipavav is scheduled for the 6th of April, 2009, vessel being Nedlloyd Drake voyage 908.
 
The reease said shippers from markets such as Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat will not only now have a direct service coverage into the Mediterranean ports and Middle East from Pipavav but will also be able to enjoy faster transit times, shorter inland haulage time, cheaper inland haulage and more so the advantage of improved service reliability that comes from a regular weekly service.
 
This service is also a direct Intra-Gulf product offering a connection to and from Jebel Ali, an important gateway into key markets of the Middle East, offering faster transit times into import dependant Middle East and Persian Gulf countries such as Iran, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
