Maharaja Appliances to invest Rs 50 crore

Home appliances maker, Maharaja Appliances Ltd, is planning to invest around Rs 50 crore to enhance production capacity at its manufacturing plant in Himachal Pradesh. Speaking to reporters at Chennai on Friday, Harish Kumar, managing director, Maharaja Whiteline Group, said the company was planning to increase the capacity to 15 million units every year from the current nine million at its Himachal unit.

The capacity increase will help the company increase its market share in the home appliances industry to 35 per cent from the current 22 per cent. The industry is estimated to be around Rs 24,000 crore,

The company has also forayed into the gas appliances segment by introducing 12 models of gas cook tops and cooking range. The new products will be sold under the existing brand name Maharaja Whiteline.

 

Kumar said the company was planning to sell around 125,000 gas stoves across the country in the first year.

It is also planning to increase its portfolio by entering water heaters and fans segments by the end of this year.
