Mahindra First Choice Services (MFCS), India's leading chain of multi-brand car service workshops, has projected total investment of almost Rs 125 crore in Uttar Pradesh over the next five years.
While, the company would invest almost Rs 25 crore for setting up spare part warehouses in UP, the remaining portion of Rs 100 crore investment would accrue from the franchisees operating the auto service workshops.
"We see the potential of opening 100 workshops in UP in the next five years," MFCS head (marketing & franchisee business) Alok Kapoor told Business Standard here.
He further said this would generate direct employment of over 2,000 in the state.
MFCS is the wholly owned subsidiary of one of India's leading automotive Mahindra & Mahindra.
Currently, it has 66 workshops across 30 odd cities, including four in UP at Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. By 2016, the company plans to open 30 new workshops in UP, he informed.
"We are targetting to expand footprint in all the major towns of UP," he said.
To supply spare parts to workshops, the company would set up a warehouse in Lucknow by September 2015. Later, such warehouses would be opened up in Agra and Varanasi.
"This hub and spoke model helps to cut the inventory costs of our franchisee partners," Kapoor claimed.
By 2018, the company, which started in 2008, targets to open a total of 500 workshops and 50 warehouses in the country. Pan India, it would be investing Rs 250 crore over five years to create infrastructure and expand network.
