In a new initiative to promote the hoop and ball game, the Mahindra Group and the US-based National Basketball Association (NBA) announced on Tuesday the launch of a multi-city community-based non-professional league for two age groups in three cities in the country.
“The Mahindra NBA Challenge will be held for seven weeks every year, starting mid-April this year, in Mumbai, Bangalore and Ludhiana. In a cricket-loving nation such as India we feel it is important to encourage other sports as well. We see this as a huge opportunity,” said Mahindra Group’s Vice Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra.
