Mahindra launches Genio in MP

After 75 per cent market share in one tonne commercial vehicle segment, Mahindra and Mahindra has said it would launch more variants in 12 months from now in sport utility vehicle (SUV) and commercial vehicle segments. The company on Wednesday launched its new commercial vehicle in one tonne segment named Genio and said it would produce 2,000 volumes each month at its Chakan (Pune) plant. “We will rev up the production as demand picks up,” Vijay Nakra, vice-president sales said. The new vehicle is launched in markets of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. “We will see this segment growing fast in the markets of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh,” Nakra said, adding, “As Bolero and Scorpio both dominate the market in the SUV segment, the new Genio will lead the market in the commercial vehicle segment since we don’t have any competitor yet in the segment”.
