Driven by the customers' feedback, Mahindra and Mahindra has launched a new variant of Scorpio, VLX edition, equipped with 'mHawk' engine. |
The vehicle that has been developed at a project cost of about Rs 125 cr would be priced at Rs 9.66 lakhs, ex-showroom in Chandigarh that is Rs 1,00,000 costlier than the current SLX model. |
According to the vice-president, marketing and sales, automotive sector of the company, Vineet Nayer, the new features were introduced purely on the basis of the feedback of the customers through the dealers across India. |
He explained that the new vehicles would have features like anti-braking system that would prevent skid on slippery surfaces, a sophisticated system to display exact air pressure and temperature in the wheels, rain sensors to command movement of wipers, sensors for the headlamps according to the ambience, automatic cruise control to maintain the speed without the press of accelator and sensors to guide during parking. |
He added the vehicle was theft-proof as it had immobilisers that cuts off fuel supply to the engine if the vehicle is operated in a mode different from what was set by the driver. |
He said many features of this vehicle were not available in the D segment cars in India. He said currently, the market was ruled by technology and regular technological upgradation was a must to sustain the competition. |
He said the company had enough capacity to meet the market demand but a target had not been fixed. He added the new Scorpio would be exported to other countries as well. |
The vehicle would be launched pan-India by this month-end. |
