The company had sold 43,087 units in the same month in 2012, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.
"Our February 2013 performance is reflective of the customers' preference for our products, for which we thank them," M&M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) Pravin Shah said.
In the domestic market, the company registered a 9.73% rise in sales to 44,399 units during the month compared to 40,461 units in the year-ago period, M&M said.
Total sales of passenger vehicles including Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 23,421 units as against 20,573 units in February 2012, translating into 13.84% increase.
The company, however, said sales of its three-wheelers declined by 6.03% to 4,803 units during February 2013 from 5,111 units in the same month last year.
Sales of the company's Gio and Maxximo mini-trucks and other four-wheeler commercial vehicles went up by 12.17% last month to 15,167 units from 13,522 units in the year-ago period, the statement said.
Commercial vehicle sales from Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd stood at 1,008 units during the month as against 1,255 units in the same month a year ago, a fall of 19.68%.
M&M's exports rose by 30.43% to 3,425 units during the month from 2,626 units in February 2012.
