Mahindra Renault Private Limited (MRPL) expects the sales of its sedan car Logan to increase by 15 to 20 per cent with the launch of its new variant Logan Edge Connect, said Gaurav Saxena, general manager (automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. Mahindra Renault, on an average, sells 1,400 Logans per month across India.
Launching the Logan Edge Connect, which made its debut in 2008, Saxena told Business Standard the company sold about 26,000 units of Logan across the country in the last financial year.
Of the total units sold, the northern region comprising Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana accounted for 25 to 30 per cent. He, however, added that the growth of Logan would be flat during the current fiscal.
Commenting on the outlook for this year, Saxena said, “In the last two months, we have seen aggressive lending by banks, making credit easily available to the buyers. Hence, we expect that the scenario will change in the coming months. Further, the total market for C-segment cars in India was 2,20,000 units last year, which is expected to grow by 10 per cent. So, we expect that the car sales will be positive in the coming months.”
