Auto major Mahindra Group plans to launch Airvan, an eight-seater utility aircraft, in the domestic market shortly.
“We plan to launch Mahindra GrippsAero GA8 TC 320 Airvan in the domestic market shortly,” Mahindra Aerospace executive director and CEO Arvind Mehra said here today.
The company has already applied for regulatory approvals like certification, Mehra said. The Airvan has already circumnavigated 21 countries and made its maiden landing at the Juhu air-strip here today.
The company has ambitious plans of launching a range of small segment aircraft such as a five-seater, an eight-seater, a 10-seater and an 18-seater in the country, Mehra said adding there was good potential for these aircraft here.
Aircraft like the GA8 TC 320 Airvan were quite useful for difficult terrains because of their capability to take off or land at very small air-strips, he said. The Airvan is a eight-seater multi-role aircraft that can be deployed for both passenger and freight services.
