Mahindra & Mahindra, the sports utility vehicle (SUV) market leader, is expected to contact owners of TUV300, the Pininfarina-designed SUV, to upgrade its software. The automated manual transmission (AMT) version of the SUV are being called in for an upgrade to the next version. "There is no recall on the TUV300. Software upgrades are made from time to time. The AMT software is being upgraded to the next version.

As a customer-centric organisation, the benefit of this upgrade is being passed on to all the earlier vehicles at no cost to the user.

Dealers will contact the customers and upgrade the software in their cars,” stated a Mahindra spokesperson over email.

According to a report by Overdrive, the company started recalling the TUV300 after customers complained of late and choppy gearshifts, delayed activation of the creep function and drops in engine speed while shifting to a higher gear.

The Mahindra TUV300 AMT is available only in the T6+ and T8 variants priced at Rs 8.65 lakh and 9.25 lakh, respectively. Both variants are powered by a 1.5 litre diesel engine that churns out a peak power of 81bhp.

The Mumbai-based company launched the mini SUV, that competes against the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster, in September last year at Rs 6.9 lakh. Following sustained demand M&M had to increase production by 50 per cent within the first two months of the launch.

Prior to this M&M had recalled XUV500, manufactured before July 2014, to upgrade the airbag software of the side curtain.
