Collaboration aims offering a wider range of aerospace services to Indian market

Neha Pandey Bangalore
Assystem and Maini Precision Products (MPP) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Aero India 2013, an aerospace exhibition scheduled from February 6 to February 10.

The collaboration aims at offering a wider range of aerospace services to the Indian market, at an apt time when the various procurement programs of the Indian Ministry of Defense are  at a mature stage.

Assystem’s experience in setting up assembly and/or manufacturing processes would be complemented by MPP’s expertise in design, manufacturing, delivery and testing services on parts and tools. Together they offer the capacity to support the building of a new production unit at world-class standards in India.

This first MoU is intended towards leading to an enlarged collaboration aimed at supporting European OEMs (civil and defense) while increasing their international footprint. Alongside Assystem, MPP will thus provide valuable offset opportunities in India and offer a robust and comprehensive support solution addressing global markets.

The MoU was signed by Dominique Louis, chairman of Assystem and David Bradley, Head of SBU Aerospace from Assystem and Gautam Maini, Executive Director of Maini Group and Naresh Palta, CEO of Maini Global Aerospace, in the presence of CG Krishnadas Nair, President of SIATI, Sandeep Maini, Chairman of Maini Group and other invitees including many overseas customers.

Both companies believe that their collective customers are looking for global end-to-end solutions right from design to manufacturing, and both parties, with their complementary strengths, would allow this collaboration to deliver added value beyond customer expectations.

“We are currently manufacturing a variety of precision components and sub-structures and supplying to several Tier-I companies and original equipment manufacturers from our existing facility in Bangalore. We are now in talks with several global makers of aero structures to form a joint venture company,” Sandeep Maini, Chairman of Maini Group had told Business Standard on February 5.

He had said the company is also planning to set up a new manufacturing plant in Bangalore to manufacture aero structures. The company has identified several companies in Europe and the US for a possible partnership for its foray into aero structures, he said adding that the company aims to form a joint venture company over the next 18 months to two years.
