Malay to retire from Arcelor board

ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaker, today announced that Malay Mukherjee, member of the group management board, would retire from executive duties on May 13.
 
Mukherjee, 60, has been responsible for Asia, Africa, the CIS states, mining, stainless, and pipes and tubes. The firm has also called its annual general meeting on May 13.
 
The board proposes to get the consent of shareholders to appoint Mukherjee as non-executive member of the board effective from May 13.
 
Mukherjee joined ArcelorMittal in 1993 as executive director of the company's Mexican operations and subsequently became CEO.
