Malaysia has emerged as one of the the most favourite destinations in the Asia Pacific for Indian travellers, according to a new survey.
Forty-six per cent of respondents from India had named the southeast Asian country as one of their preferred destinations for the next two years, said the survey by the Asia Pacific Travel Intentions and conducted by Visa and the Pacific Asia Travel Association, reported national news agency Bernama.
"Malaysia is ahead of other Asia Pacific countries and territories such as Australia and Hong Kong.
"With India now the sixth largest source market for inbound tourism to Malaysia, these survey findings are very timely," Struat Tomlinson, Visa Malaysia country manager said.
Tomlinson said the tourism potential between the two countries was tremendous as both had forged close ties with six bilateral agreements recently, one of which also included tourism.
