Consumer products maker Marico has said it planned to close its Dehradun factory, the first big company to declare such a closure after the expiry of tax incentives under the 2003 scheme for Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Government officials were tightlipped on the reason for the exit. The company only said it had stopped manufacturing activities in its Selaquie unit in Dehradun effective November 21 and initiated steps for the closure of the plant.
