Marriott enters the Pink city

The international hotel group Marriott Hotels & Resorts has opened a 365-room property in the Pink City.

The Jaipur Marriott Hotel is the largest hotel in Rajasthan in terms of number of rooms and meeting space with 43,000-sq ft area including two ballrooms and 13 break-out and meeting rooms, the company said in a release here.

Opening the facility in Jaipur yesterday, Marriott International Inc are vice-president for India, the Maldives, Malaysia & Australia, Rajeev Menon, said, "With tremendous growth as a business hub during the past few years, Jaipur is set to become one of the most sought-after destinations for both leisure and business travellers in the country".

The hotel will feature the Marriott signature Quan Spa, which is a 10,000-sq ft space for rejuvenation, including a well-equipped fitness centre, and a swimming pool.

Marriott Hotels & Resorts is Marriott International's most widely distributed brand, with over 500 hotels and resorts in 54 countries, while Marriott International, the parent, has over 3,600 lodging properties in 71 countries.

US-based Marriott operates and franchises hotels under the Marriott, JW Marriott, the Ritz-Carlton, Edition, Autograph Collection, Renaissance, Residence Inn, Courtyard, TownePlace Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, SpringHill Suites and Bulgari brand names.

In the 2010 fiscal, the Marriott Group reported sales from operations of nearly $12 billion.
