Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) today reported a 11.4% increase in its domestic car sales during September. The sales last month stood at 63,086 units as compared to 56,606 units during the corresponding month last year. The company's exports during the month grew 55% at 4,362 units compared to 2,814 units in September a year ago. Sales of MSIL's flagship M800 and the C segment comprising multi-utility vehicles Omni and Versa declined by 32% at 5221 units and 12.9% at 6350 units, respectively. The A2 segment comprising Alto, Wagon-R, Zen and Swift, saw a growth of 21.8% at 46,216 units compared to 37,955 units in the corresponding period last year. Sales of sedans, Esteem and SX4, in the A3 segment were up by 43.3% in the month at 4,885 units against 3,410 units in September 2006, MSIL said. |
