Less than ten days after it recalled over 20,000 units of S Cross, the country's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, has announced a recall of over 75,000 units of its premium hatchback Baleno. The recall is being done to upgrade the airbag controller software.
Of the 75,419 Balenos being recalled, almost 16,000 diesel variants will also be inspected for a faulty fuel filter, followed by a replacement if needed. It is also recalling 1,961 units of diesel Dzire to inspect a faulty fuel filter.
The company said that the Baleno cars being recalled also include 17,231 units that were exported. The cars include both diesel and petrol variants.
Both S Cross and Baleno were launched in FY16 and are being sold through the company's premium retail network Nexa that was also launched last year.
The Balenos that require the airbag controller software were manufactured between August 2015 and May 2016. The 15,995 Baleno cars that may need replacement of faulty fuel filter were manufactured between August 2015 and March 2016.
The company said that owners of the vehicles covered will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki dealers from May 31. The software upgrade and the replacement of faulty fuel filter, will be done free of cost. Early last week, the company had announced recall of 20,427 units of S Cross to replace a brake part.
