Maruti to strengthen engg design team

Maruti Suzuki India Limited will be increasing the strength of its engineering design team from the existing 480 members to 1,000 by the year 2010, according to company's managing executive officer (engineering), IV Rao.

Talking to mediapersons at the launch of new sedan Swift DZire here on Thursday, Rao said Maruti's parent company Suzuki had decided to entrust more work to the Indian design team, which had been associated with the Japanese team in providing engineering design to seven models including Swift.

Maruti would also be setting up a testing facility in India by 2010. He was hopeful that the waiting time for Swift diesel would reduce following the capacity expansion of Maruti's manufacturing facility at Manesar to 300,000 units per annum.
