India’s top car maker Maruti Suzuki today said it was closely tracking the road map of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) outlets in the country to launch CNG variants of its popular vehicles.

The company is planning to launch soon factory-fitted CNG variants of its five bestsellers — Alto, compact cars Estilo and WagonR, multi-purpose vehicle Eeco and mid-sized sedan SX4.

“The network of CNG filling stations is fast growing and we would be launching our CNG variants in mainly National Capital Region (NCR), Mumbai and Gujarat markets,” Maruti Suzuki general manager, corporate Kanwaldeep Singh said at a conference.

He maintained the company was keeping in touch with the Centre and the state governments to keep abreast of the CNG roadmap to provide customers with the CNG options in such markets.

Singh was in town to launch a refurbished version of its top selling car Alto equipped with K-series 998 c engine. Available in six colours, Alto K10 carries ex-showroom price tags of Rs 3.12 lakh (Lxi) and Rs 3.35 lakh (Vxi) in Lucknow.

“UP is important for us as we have a market share of 58 per cent, which is above the national average and we are clocking a growth of 15 per cent,” he informed. The company sells over 5,000 cars per month in the state.

Maruti is also expanding its network to come closer to customers, besides setting up more workshops to provide better after sales services.

Commenting on the used car market, he said Maruti’s pre-owned car brand True Value was posting growth of almost 25 per cent and the company remained bullish about the segment.
