Maruti Udyog is now Maruti Suzuki India

Maruti Udyog will now be called Maruti Suzuki India.

According to a release issued by the company to the BSE today, the new name - Maruti Suzuki - reflects the strong corporate brand image the company has held over the years through Maruti and Suzuki reflects the international dimension of the company.

The new name was approved by the Registrar of Companies on Monday while the board of directors had approved of the name change in July.

The shareholders also approved the name change at the AGM held on September 6, 2007.
