Maruti Udyog Oct sales up 17%

Maruti Udyog today reported a 17% increase in sales at 60,163 units in October as against 51,543 units sold in October 2005.

According to a release issued by Maruti to the BSE today, exports zoomed 246% to 4,269 units in October as against 1,235 units in October 2005.

"Maruti 800 sales declined 30% to 6,354 units from 9,087 units sold in October 2005. The A2 segment (Alto, Wagon-R, Zen and Swift) saw sales increase 23% to 38,940 units from 31,531 units sold in October 2005. Sales of Baleno/Esteem dropped 12% to 2,700 units," the release added.

During the month, Maruti sold 22,294 units of Alto - the highest-ever monthly sales for any model and make in India. The previous record of highest sales was held by Maruti 800 (20,687 units in March 2003).
