Maruti Udyog Q2 net up 40%

Maruti Udyog today reported a 39.89% increase in net profit at Rs 367.4 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2006 from Rs 262.2 crore in the same period last year. This is the third best quarterly performance by the company.

Total income, after reducing excise duty, increased 12.52% to Rs 3,540.89 crore in the July-September quarter from Rs 3,149 crore in the same period last year. With excise, the s total income was Rs 4,020.7 crore in the period under review.

Profit before tax went up to Rs 534.63 crore - a growth of 38.41% over the same period last year.

Total income, after deducting excise, for the first half of the fiscal was Rs 6,809.66 crore, a growth of 16%. Net Profit for the fist six months of the financial year was at Rs 737.01 crore, up 50.68% over April-September 2005.

The company sold 1,57,683 vehicles during the quarter including 8,165 units of exports.
