Mastek Q2 net jumps 10-fold

IT company Mastek Ltd has reported more than ten-fold increase in net profit in the second quarter ended December 2004 to Rs 11.69 crore compared with Rs one crore recorded for the same period of the previous year and also announced an interim dividend of Rs 2 per share.
 
The company's total income increased to Rs 47.23 crore in Q2 against Rs 27.09 crore in the same period a year ago, a growth of 74 per cent. The group posted a consolidated net profit of 12.81 crore in Q2 against the last fiscal's Rs 4.1 crore, a 212 per cent increase, Mastek informed BSE. Total consolidated income has increased to Rs 140 crore in Q2 from Rs 104 crore in the same period last fiscal.
 
Sterlite Optical Dec qtr net at Rs 6.48 cr
 
Sterlite Optical Technologies has recorded a profit of Rs 6.48 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004, compared with a net loss of Rs 16.62 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous year. The company's net sales stood at Rs 95.86 crore during the quarter under review compared with Rs 23.86 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2003.
 
The company has shown sustained revenues and profit performance over the last two quarters after a period of losses for nine quarters, according to a company press release. The company has a total order book of Rs 127 crore at the start of the last quarter of the fiscal 2004-05, the release added.
 
CMC Q3 net dips 14.7%

CMC, the software services company from the Tata group, has posted a dip in net profit by 14.7 per cent to Rs 9.28 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004, as compared to Rs 10.88 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2003.
 
Total revenue increased marginally by 1.71 per cent from Rs 201.76 crore in third quarter ended December 31, 2003, to Rs 205.23 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004.
