Mayfair Group, the Rs 60 crore real estate developer, is foraying into education business with plans to develop a 16,000 sq ft campus for Mayfair Business School. The initiative highlights the company’s intention to build a knowledge city inside a township in Kolkata within six years.

Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata, Rahul Gupta, MD of the company, “We are diversifying into education business with a clear focus on building a knowledge city soon. We are still working out the investments required for the business school.”

“The management control of the school will be with the Mayfair Group. We have also appointed teachers from IITs and IIMs. We would accommodate 300 students,” Gupta said.

The B-school is affiliated to Punjab Technical University and would offer under-graduate (UG) courses such as BBA, BCA and PG courses such as MBA and MCA. The MBA course would cost Rs 1,50,000 with a free laptop to all students.

The school would also offer a 10 per cent discount to female candidates and a five per cent discount to residents of Mayfair Group.

Special scholarships on merit basis will also be provided and every year two economically backward students would be given free education.
