Mayfair plans 5-star hotel in Goa

City-based MayFair Hotels and Resorts, one of the leading hotel chains in eastern India plans to develop a five-star boutique hotel in Goa by October this year which would cater to the domestic and overseas leisure travelers.

“We have already acquired a standalone hotel property from a local hospitality player in Goa and it aims to develop the existing property into a five-star boutique hotel at an investment of about Rs 15 crore”, a senior official of MayFair Hotels and Resorts told Business Standard.

The proposed hotel group will consist of 32 deluxe rooms to cater to the high-end leisure tourists. Meanwhile, the hotel chain expects to inaugurate its proposed five-star deluxe hotel in Gangtok by April this year. MayFair is investing over Rs 50 crore on its Gangtok hotel which would comprise 163 rooms including villas and cottages. Construction work on this hotel is almost over.

 

MayFair also expects to complete land acquisition for its proposed resort in Chilika spread over 50 acres by the end of this year. The resort in Chilika would comprise about 70 rooms and it is being taken up at an investment of Rs 50 crore which excludes the cost of land acquisition.

This apart, the premier hotel chain is setting up hotel properties in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. MayFair which is building a convention hotel in Bhubaneswar expects to commission it by May this year.

The proposed convention hotel in Bhubaneswar will comprise 20 rooms with a total built-up area of around 35,000 sq ft and it will come up close to the MayFair Group’s existing property- Mayfair Lagoon in the city. MayFair is investing Rs 10-12 crore on this convention hotel.
