Opened on this occasion to cash in on the festive mood of customers, the McDonald's family restaurant is the first establishment to open its doors at the DC Nand Plaza in the Sadar Bazar area of Agra, one of the over dozen shopping malls under construction in the town, which is yet to become fully operational. |
With the opening of this outlet, the number of McDonalds restaurants in North India, being managed by Connaught Plaza Restaurants Pvt. Ltd, the Joint Venture partner of McDonald's in the Northern parts of the country, has risen to 54 and the number of restaurants in Uttar Pradesh has reached 13, making it the largest concentration of McDonald's restaurants in any state of North India outside Delhi. |
Earlier, the nearest McDonalds outlet for the Agra residents was located in Mathura, about 50 km. away from the town. Being the first McDonalds outlet to become operational in Agra, added with the factor of being located in the first shopping mall to open doors in Agra and that too, on the New Year's Eve, the outlet at DC Nand Plaza which has been designed to seat 120 people at the same time, has already begun facing space crunch with hundreds of people pouring in from all over Agra and the nearby towns including Etah, Hathras & Aligarh, more to "hang around" than eat at the restaurant. |
