MCL to cross 100 mt coal production this year

Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), the flagship company of Coal India Ltd (CIL), would soon become one of the ten best coal companies in the world, achieving a coal output of over 100 million tonnes (mt) by the end of this fiscal, MCL chairman and managing director, S R Upadhyay said.

Speaking at the 18th first aid competition of MCL at Talcher near here, Upadhyay said reaching the production milestone of 100 mt is only a matter of few days for the coal company.

He thanked all his officers, workers and the state agencies for their whole hearted co-operation that enabled the company to move towards this direction.

 

Upadhyay said, MCL also planned to set up a medical college at Talcher which would initially function from the company's Nehru Central Hospital. The medical college needed the approval of the state government and the Medical Council of India (MCI).

On ambulance services, he said, three large life saving ambulances have already been pressed into service at the Talcher and Ib valley coalfields as well as the MCL headquarter at Burla and eight more ambulances will be introduced soon.

S K Mahanty, chief of medical services, MCL and B N Jha, chief general manager of Bharatpur area under MCL also spoke on the occasion.
