Medica, Tatas join hands to set up super-speciality hospitals in Odisha

As per tie-up, Medica would manage both proposed hospitals of Tata Steel at Kalinganagar and Gopalpur

Kolkata-based Medica group of hospital has tied-up with Tata Steel to set up two super-speciality hospitals in Odisha.

The company has signed an agreement with Medica to set up two super-speciality hospitals in Kalinganagar and Gopalpur in Odisha, Tata Steel Managing Director, T V Narendran said while inaugurating a modernised and upgraded 150-bed Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital here today.

Medica Chairman, Dr Alok Roy told newsmen that as per the tie-up, Medica would manage both the proposed hospitals of Tata Steel at Kalinganagar and Gopalpur.

Each hospital would have a capacity of 500 beds and Rs 300 crores would be invested, he said.
 

Roy said 50 acre (10 acre in Kalinganagar and 40 acre in Gopalpur) has been earmarked for the proposed hospital.

The hospital in Kalinganagar, where the foundation stone has been laid will be completed in one and half year.

Supported by Tata Steel, KGMH, being managed by a trust, has signed a MOU with Medica, which has upgraded and modernised the hospital and would managed it.
