Within just one month of it getting operational, Ludhiana Mediciti, a state-of-the-art super speciality hospital, has done seventeen bypass heart surgeries and close to 50 angiographies. |
Spread over 60,000 sq feet, Ludhiana Mediciti has a team of eleven doctors. "Six more doctors will be joining in May this year," said Gaurav Sachdeva of Ludhiana Mediciti. |
Speaking to Business Standard, Gaurav Sachdeva said the hospital was constructed on the guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO). |
"Ludhiana Mediciti is an 85 bedded hospital and we have also applied for ISO 9001 certification and are hopeful to get it soon. Our hospital caters to the needs of not only Ludhiana patients but also patients from Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the state. We are also focussing on medical tourism. For this purpose, we will be advertising in newspapers of USA, Canada and UK soon." |
Ludhiana Mediciti uses a machine called PICSO (pressure controlled intermittent coronary sinus occlussion), which makes it the first Asian hospital to have such advanced heart assisting system. Its function is based on a technique developed by Harinder Singh Bedi, who is chairman, Cardiac Sciences, and Director of Ludhiana Mediciti. |
The machine basically works by supplying fresh blood to the heart muscle which is suffering from heart attack. It is based on the fact that the venous system of the heart is never blocked. So the fresh blood is supplied by veins using this sophisticated machine which intermittently pressurises veins so that blood flows backward. |
"For most of our surgeries, we have fixed packages which include operation fees, medicines, food, room rent and everything else. Very soon we will be acquiring a 64 slide CT scan machine, which will be first of its kind in the region and cost Rs 5.23 crore," said Sachdeva. |
