The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has ruled consumers will have to share the transmission and distribution (T&D) losses with the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), if losses cross the threshold of 26.87 per cent. MERC found MSEB had overshot it by 12.6 per cent.
The 12.6 per cent loss, which translates into 7,772 million units of energy output and costs around Rs 1,270 crore, is to be borne equally by MSEB and customers.
