Mercedes-Benz, India's largest luxury car maker, today drove in the new A-Class priced at Rs 24.95 lakh for the petrol variant (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Launched in 2013 the A-Class is the cheapest car in the German company's line up. The diesel version of the car is priced at Rs 25.95 lakh.
This is the 15th and the last model launch by Mercedes-Benz committed for the year.
Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, "The A-Class has been instrumental in making Mercedes-Benz brand more youthful. We are confident that the new A-Class will continue to remain on top of customers'preference".
The A-Class belongs to the new generation of compact cars from Mercedes. The portfolio also has the B-Class, GLA-Class and CLA-Class.
The new A-Class is equipped with a leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel having 12 buttons and a shift lever in leather.
The car has a 1.6 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine that produces peak power of 122hp. The 2.2 litre, 4 cylinder diesel produces 136hp of peak power, generating a top speed of 210km/hr.
