Online skill assessment platform Mettl has introduced a tool, Case Study evaluator, for the measurement of business skill evaluation, using the case study methodology. The case study evaluator is available in a simulation based format where the users can simply log on the Mettl platform and choose to participate in the treasure hunt, better described as the gamification of a business case problem, upon invitation from a participating company or institution.

The product simulates a real consulting interview where a candidate is asked to solve few case problems that mirror issues faced by corporates worldwide. The tool tests business analysis, problem solving and decision making ability of the employees. The tool is scalable and enables the company / hirer to analyze the business acumen at different job levels- managers upto CEO level.

Ketan Kapoor, co-founder and CEO, Mettl, said, "Case study interviews, if used well are highly effective in measuring business skills of an individual and are employed by almost all consulting companies today. What we have just launched is a way to automate a case study interview And make it extremely easy and effective for any company or institution to launch this globally. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time an opportunity to objectively evaluate a case study in this manner has been made available in the Indian market,"

He further added that the vision is to redefine standards of skill assessments globally by employing technology to measure hands-on skills and not just knowledge on any subject. The business skills evaluator has already been piloted across the top 15 business schools of the country with over 2000 assessments. This automated case study interview tool was used to test the consulting skills of over a 1000 candidates from the top 15 business schools in India.

'Case Study Evaluator' is a mechanism to test the consulting skills of business school graduates across the world. The automated interview tool engages the candidate in analyzing and solving a typical business problem that a consultant might be hired for. The algorithm driven tool automatically monitors the sequence and relevance of the case-related problem areas investigated by the candidate. It then grades the candidate based on the case analysis and final business decision taken – thus providing a holistic view of the candidate’s business acumen.

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow in association with Mettl has created a property titled Strategia 2013 where over 600 teams have been invited from leading B schools to participate and compete to showcase their strategy skills by leading management schools. The simulation game is a treasure hunt to identify and solve a business caserelated to the credit card industry and drew a huge response from the participants. The winners have been recently facilitated in an internal ceremony conducted by the management institute.
